- Bill Gates published an essay on 26 August 2026 arguing that the AI transition lacks an adequate public plan.
- He names Human Reserved as a possible domain of work kept for people, analogized to a nature reserve: a place that could be developed, but is not, because the loss would be too great.
- He argues that a global slowdown of AI development is unlikely, because geopolitical and economic incentives push continued advance.
- He proposes taxing AI tokens and robots, in part because payroll is taxed while machines can be written off.
INTERPRETATION解釈
- The first-order change is economic usefulness of machine work. The later-order change is institutional: tax, welfare, and the definition of what counts as human work.
- Competitive pressure can accelerate adoption even if no single firm prefers the social outcome.
- Human Reserved, in this reading, is a possible later-order response, not a completed policy.
