CROSS-OBSERVER CONSEQUENCE MODEL

FILE ES-RI-001 / 2026-09-04 / OBSERVED + INTERPRETED

When Representation Stops Being Enough

What happens to intermediaries when the network no longer requires them to connect its nodes?

When platforms replace broadcasters as gatekeepers, who gains power?

Power is no longer concentrated in a single gatekeeper.

Talent can keep multiple parallel dependencies.

The connector is optional. Infrastructure is not.

NETWORK CHANGE

An observational redistribution of relations — not a forecast that agencies vanish.

SOURCE FACT

FACT事実

  • Tokyo Shoko Research reported 26 Japanese talent-agency bankruptcies in 2025, the highest count since 2014.
  • The same report counted 12 further bankruptcies from January through July 2026.
  • Sato Kikaku and Largo Music received bankruptcy commencement decisions on 5 August 2026.
  • TSR describes reduced television production budgets and talent activity through SNS and online distribution without agency dependence.

SHIRO & Co. interpretation

INTERPRETATION解釈

  • The bankruptcy count is a surface event. The structural event is the opening of distribution.
  • When nodes can connect without a dedicated connector, the connector's power redistributes across platforms, talent, brands, and audiences.
  • The intermediary does not necessarily leave the graph. It can move from the path between nodes to a capability layer beside them.

Not this

  • This page does not claim that talent agencies are disappearing.
  • This is not a causal model in which television decline produces bankruptcy as a single path.
  • This is not a ranking of surviving firms.

HUMAN RESERVE

AI may not eliminate the intermediary. It may compress it toward reserved judgment.

Automatable

scheduling · social posting · fan analytics · basic outreach · reporting · content adaptation

Human Reserved

crisis response · reputation judgment · career strategy · trust · talent development · major negotiations · long-term relationship building

Key questions

  1. 01

What remains of an intermediary when access is no longer scarce?

  2. 02

If talent can reach audiences directly, what must an agency provide to remain valuable?

  3. 03

Does the agency disappear, or become infrastructure?

  4. 04

Which agency functions can AI absorb?

  5. 05

    What remains HUMAN RESERVED?

  6. 06

When platforms replace broadcasters as gatekeepers, who gains power?

REPRESENTATION → INFRASTRUCTURE

When access stops being scarce, the intermediary must become infrastructure.
